RSPCA Blog: The Ceremony of the Keys

Well we’ve done it – we’ve got the keys to our brand new building. We are all now soooo excited, but also quite overwhelmed with what we have yet to do! Go to  to see our video of the ‘Ceremony of the Keys’.

It has been nearly 4 years since we first dreamt of moving and 18 months of trauma to get to this stage. We have been gazumped, pipped to the post and had properties withdrawn from the market, but we have got here at last and you know what – what we have ended up with is the best of ‘um all; beyond our wildest dreams! It has been an unbelievable team effort by the staff, trustees and volunteers of the group and we have also had massive support from Head Office and the Inspectors.

The new building means that once the internal works have been completed we can quadruple the number of animals we see through our clinics and also undertake neutering and other small operations on the premises. We will also be able to expand all our other animal welfare work, provide support to the Inspectorate and open our second charity shop. All this will eventually be cash flow positive and therefore the expansion will be self-maintaining meaning we can expand the number of animals we take into our care for re-homing.

We hope to actually move sometime this week or next week but we desperately need to raise more funds before we can start the refurbishment work so please click here to see our wish list and ways that you can help.

Please note that our fortnightly clinics will still run during the refurb as Garic Ltd of Bury have very kindly donated a site cabin for us to use in the Car Park until the new clinic facilities are ready.
